French marketing technology company Neolane, which runs its North American headquarters in Newton, has pulled in $27 million in a new funding round, led by Battery Ventures, according to a release. Also participating with Battery in the new funding were existing Neolane backers Auriga Partners and XAnge, both of Paris, and Gilles Queru. Neolane said that it would use the funds to “aggressively expand Neolane’s global leadership across the marketing technology industry, particularly in North America.” that means adding sales, marketing and development staff and expanding into new territories, the company said in the release. Neolane’s flagship product is Neolane Interaction, a “conversational marketing” application that combines inbound and outbound marketing campaigns and offers to generate real-time offers on targeted websites and Facebook pages. the company, founded in France in 2001, landed its North American headquarters in Newton in October 2007. Customers include Paris-based Accor Hotels, EMI Music, a division of California’s EMI Group Inc., and beauty product retailer Sephora, according to the company. in January 2007, Neolane reported closing a $7 million second round of funding led by XAnge Capital and XAnge Private Equity funds, with Auriga Partners, which was Neolane’s original first-round investor.
